Captain's Day
Sunday 14th August at 8.30 am saw the shotgun, well, air horn really!, start of the 2016 Captain's Day, organised, with help from too few to mention (joke!) by our own Captain of this year the fabulous Andy 'Farmer' Griffin.
This year saw the annual and very popular safari course in play with a few twists added to the proceedings by Farmer, some different tee placings from the 'norm' with funky tee markers in the guise of construction workers hard hats. I was witness to one Steve 'Monty' Putt teeing off the 18th tee while wearing one of the tee markers, I could definitely hear the tones of YMCA in the background....
Another good year with great weather on the day brought out the players in good numbers and spirits. There was a charity par 3 hole on the tenth that raised a princely sum for the Captains charity. The total donations of the day for the Captains charity, the Thames Valley Air Ambulance, was £1,391.00.
The prize winners on the day were:
1st - G Holliday & A Britnall
2nd - R Frost & W Frost
3rd - M Clack & B Hale
