Captain's mid term review

Having served as your Captain for the last six months I can honestly say it has been an honour and a privilege and an enjoyable experience. With the Summer months now fast approaching the golf season is now in full swing. The Winter league final is taking place this Saturday and the Summer league is also in its preliminary stages. Competitions are coming thick and fast with the bowmaker being played this Sunday and Stableford pairs shortly after if you haven't got your names down yet please do so. The course is coming along nicely and after the horrid winter months it is a joy to play on. I give my thanks to Martin and his greens staff for their continuing hard work.

The main competition for this year the club champs is coming up very quickly and the committee has already begun the planning for this prestigious event. A few subtle changes have been made for this years comp these mainly being a one tee start and three balls going out instead of four balls. Please get your name down for this two day event it will be a great weekend of golf with many prizes up for grabs.

I will also be running a golfing fun day using a safari course layout on Sunday 29th May in aid of club funds. This will be open to all members of the club and will include nearest the pin prizes and many other little quirks, more information will follow as soon as I get some more info and a full sign up sheet will be available this weekend.

The past six months have seen a few changes at Witney and also a few challenges for the committee, we have members from all sections represented on that committee, something we haven't had for a while and I must say that without their continued hard work and dedication we would not be where we are now. We will not get everything right first time but we try our hardest to do what we think is best for the club. I again give my thanks to those men and women who go that extra mile for the benefit of the club.

This club is a great club and is continually improving so go out there play golf but most of all enjoy yourself.
