Central Sevens Cup match...

Witney Lakes played at Carswell in the first round of the Central Sevens knockout cup competition today but were beaten by 2 matches to 1.

I think that the Witney Lakes team will somehow manage to blame the ineptness of the Captain Wally '2 Sox' Jackson for his management skills as while the team were gathered just prior to 11.30 am in the bar of the club for the 11.30 meet for breakfast as per the Captains instructions, the Captain received a telephone call from no less than the Captain of the home team to enquire about our whereabouts. Wally, ever the joker quipped, aha, well done Phil, nice try, calling me while I'm in the club house. Now I suppose you are going to tell me that's a fine for having my phone on in the club? Phil, the home Captain, retorted that he was in the club house and could see no sign of the visiting team I had sitting with me listening to this conversation. Phil Joked nervously, you are at Carswell arent you Wally?

The penny dropped, like a massive clanger!! I say chaps, if we want to have breakfast before we play we need to make our way to Carswell, as sitting here at Wrag Barn isn't going to get us anywhere!!

After the incredulous stares directed at the Captain, there followed a certain amount of abuse that I am afraid can't be written down here! then a dash in a convoy over to Carswell were we did in fact have plenty of time eat a rather well done breakfast before we started the match.

After the match one of the Carswell team kindly asked the Captain if he needed any assistance finding his way home! One of the Witney Lakes team also offered to allow the Captain to follow them just to be on the safe side.
