Sydney Morton Memorial - April 2015

Congratulations to the worthy wining team of Steve Putt and Deana Rushworth a fine performance in testing conditions. It could be said that the real winners of the day were the Oxfordshire Air Ambulance service who will benefit from the kind generostity of the 100 competitors and their friends and family who provided their support in organising and supporting the event on the day and the charity auction and raffle after the competition.

The Men's & Ladies Captains, Dave & Louise, and Val Morton all expressed their gratitude to all those present, those not able to stay, and of course all the people who assisted in one way or another to make the event such a success and for their fantastic support for such a worthy charity and for helping to celebrate the life of Syd with Val.

While we were blessed with a thankfully dry day, as anyone knows who plays golf at Witney Lakes, it does have the need to be a little breezy at times, I think the owners missed a trick in not ironically naming the golf club 'Windy Lakes', their humour would not have gone un-noticed! Anyway, despite the challenging conditions of the day, it appeared to me that everyone enjoyed the format of pairs Texas scramble with golfers of all abilities and handicaps from scratch to 36 able to compete and enjoy the golf and the company of the day.
